LAUREL, Del. – A traffic stop in Laurel Sunday afternoon led to numerous charges for a Hurlock man.

We’re told troopers stopped a silver Ford 500 with an expired tag in the area of Seaford Road and Camp Road shortly after 12 p.m. On contact with the driver, identified as 38-year-old Howard Quailes, troopers reportedly smelled marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and saw an open beer bottle in the center console.

A pat-down search of Quailes led to the discovery of a handgun with an obliterated serial number concealed in his waistband. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of approximately 3.37 grams of marijuana.

Quailes was held at SCI on a $12,102 cash bond on a list of charges, including drinking while driving and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.
