Preston home heavily damaged in fire
PRESTON, Md. – A Preston home suffered significant damage following a fire Monday afternoon.
The fire broke out just after 2 p.m. at 4631 Newton Road. Over 5o firefighters responded to the 2-alarm blaze, bringing it under control in approximately one hour.
Further investigation by Maryland State Fire Marshals revealed that the fire was accidental in nature and ignited as a result of the owner using a propane torch to burn weeds next to the house.
Total damage has been estimated at $350,000.
