Felton Police arrest woman following child abuse investigation
FELTON, Del. – A Frederica woman has been charged following a child abuse investigation.
Late last month, Felton Police were called to the 300 block of Ludlow Lane for a report of child abuse. This launched a 3-week-long investigation, with detectives determining that the administrators at the facility learned of a potential issue and reviewed video surveillance that showed an employee aggressively handling four juvenile victims. The video showed that the alleged incidents took place between January 16th and 24th.
The employee, identified as 19-year-old Alyssa Pennington, was immediately terminated. She reportedly turned herself in to Felton Police and was charged with 13 counts of third degree child abuse and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Pennington was released on a $132,000 unsecured bond and issued a no contact order with the victims and childcare facility in this case.
