Delaware State Police arrest Seaford man for drugs and resisting arrest

SEAFORD, Del. – Delaware State Police arrested a Seaford man on drug offenses and resisting arrest following a traffic stop that occurred Friday morning.

Police say the suspect William Matthews fled from his car while holding a green container following a traffic stop. Troopers say he was later taken into custody after a taser deployment was utilized.

Police recovered a hidden green container after the chase, which contained approximately 44 plastic capsules containing crack, a personal use quantity of marijuana and $111.

Matthews was taken to Troop 5, where he was charged with possession and distribution charges and resisting arrest.

Matthews was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on an $11,000 secured bond.
