Sussex Tech girls soccer falls to Middletown in DIAA quarterfinals
CAMDEN, Del.- Despite 16 saves on 17 shots on goal by keeper Val Whealton, the Sussex Tech girls soccer fell to Middletown in double overtime 1-0 in the DIAA quarterfinals.
It was a defensive battle from start to finish as both teams would go scoreless through regulation. The Cavaliers dominated the time of possession getting off 28 shots, 17 on goal, and only giving up one shot on goal to the Ravens.
The game remained scoreless for the first overtime period but just two minutes into the second period Middletown would end it. Katelyn Li netted the game winning goal to knock the Ravens out of the playoffs in the first round.
Tech finished their season with an 11-4 record and a state playoff appearance.
