SU alum Quinn to be named Commanders head coach

SALISBURY, Md. – Salisbury University athletic hall of fame Dan Quinn has agreed to become the head coach of the Washington Commanders.

Quinn has been the defensive coordinator with the Dallas Cowboys for the past three years, and was the head coach with the Atlanta Falcons from 2015-2020.

Quinn led the Falcons to Super Bowl LI, where his team squandered a 28-3 second half lead in their overtime loss to the New England Patriots.

During his tenure with the Cowboys his defense led the league in takeaways twice, and was top seven in the NFL in points allowed all three seasons.

While with the Sea Gulls, Quinn was a team captain twice, and a member of the defensive line from 1990-93.

He also excelled in track, being named a track and field team captain and All Mason-Dixon in 1994.

Quinn was inducted into the Salisbury University athletics hall of fame in 2005.
