Second teen arrested following gun arrest at Cape Henlopen High School
LEWES, Del. – Delaware State Police have arrested a second suspect in connection to an incident at Cape Henlopen High School last week.
Throughout the investigation, detectives learned that the 17-year-old student had gotten the gun from his residence in Rehoboth Beach after it was given to him by a 15-year-old, who is also a Cape Henlopen student on January 16th. The students also reportedly conspired to conceal the gun from being discovered by the School Resource Officer and school staff the following day, after the 17-year-old was detained.
On Thursday, police say the 15-year-old turned himself in and was charged with possession of a deadly weapon by person under 18, possession of a firearm in a safe school zone, and second degree conspiracy, all felonies.
The teen was released to a guardian on a $2,500 unsecured bond and was issued a no-contact order with the Cape Henlopen School District.
