Delaware native announces candidacy for Sussex County Council

SUSSEX COUNTY, Md.- Delaware native Matt Lloyd has thrown his hat into the ring for the Sussex County Council District 1 seat. That covers the areas of Seaford, Laurel, Delmar, and Gumboro.

Lloyd has no political background but told 47ABC his time in the Air Force showed him that he has a passion to serve.

He tells us his platform is focused on affordable housing, addressing local environmental concerns, and looking for ways to grow the county’s economy. “I’m for low taxes and for small government. I’m going to wake up every day as an elected official representing the people of the 1st district with them in mind. I want people to know that if they call me, I can guarantee you that you’ll get a call back and bring your ideas and concerns council with me,” Lloyd said.

Llyod is running for the seat currently held by Council President Mike Vincent. Councilman Vincent has yet to file for re-election.
