New Year’s Day fire displaces Caroline Co. residents

HENDERSON, Md. – An investigation is underway following a fire in Caroline County early Monday morning.

Just after 6 a.m., firefighters responded to 27105 River Bridge Road in Henderson for a reported house fire. A total of 50 firefighters battled the blaze for one hour before bringing it under control.

Officials say the residents were not home at the time of the fire, however, a family dog did not make it out of the home. Investigators have determined that the fire began inside the home, but the cause remains under investigation. Total damage has been estimated at $200,000.
