Governors Challenge Day 2 Recap
DECATUR 57, SMYRNA 54 (OT)
Smyrna led this one for double the time of Decatur, but the Seahawks buckled down in the fourth quarter by shooting 8/15 in the fourth quarter. Brycen Coleman led the way for Decatur with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Chase Sullivan impressed with 19 points in the losing effort for Smyrna.
SUSSEX CENTRAL 54, CAMBRIDGE-SOUTH DORCHESTER 48
David Maker lived up to his name for the Golden Knights, shooting 10/10 from the foul line and leading all scorers with 17 points. Cambridge-South Dorchester dominated the offensive glass with 22 offensive rebounds. The Vikings struggled against a stout Central defense, shooting just 28-percent from the field.
WOODBRIDGE 78, EASTON 73
Easton’s Marshall Bailey stole the show with 28 points, 7 rebounds 5 assists, and 4 steals. Isaiah Newton did everything he could to match Bailey, dropping 24 points for the Blue Raiders. Turnover doomed Easton, as the Warriors committed 25 on the night.
ARCADIA 75, KENT COUNTY 55
Jysir Valentine was a force to be reckoned with in the paint, putting up a double-double – 16 points and 13 rebounds – to go along with 7 blocks. Kent County’s defense was active, forcing 19 turnovers including 14 steals.
MILFORD MILL 50, QUEEN ANNE’S 35
The Lions were dominated in the paint, getting outscored in the pain, 32-16, while getting out-rebounded, 47-32, including 17-4 on the offensive glass. Collin Woolford had 12 points to lead the Lions, Flash Thompson collected 9 rebounds.
