Community honors Kathleen McLain with Betty Gardner award
SALISBURY, Md. – Dozens of people came together on Thursday to celebrate the life of a special lady someone who is near and dear and who has helped shape the community for decades.
The Wicomico County Tourism Department honored Kathleen McLain with the Betty Gardner award on Thursday.
Kathleen was celebrated for 20 years of dedication as our former WMDT General Manager.
Not only did she help 47ABC grow for the community she also helped plan HALO’s capital campaign and she even served in the Community Foundation’s board since 2009.
“We affectionately call her the media goddess, and I mean that very affectionately because she’s very committed to everything about the Eastern Shore and in Salisbury in particular,” said Comcast Spotlight Sales Manager, Stephanie Willey.
“She’s been such a valuable asset to us on the tourism board,” said the Wicomico County Tourism Chairman, Mike Delano.
“She’s one that has an awful lot of contacts within the community and has helped us accomplish an awful lot in what we’ve accomplished in the last 15 to 20 years,” said Delano.
Kathleen unfortunately was not able to receive the award at the ceremony because of a health issue. People at the event said that she is loved by many and the 47ABC team agrees because she is loved by many still at WMDT.
