Fire and explosion in Seaford leaves home devastated

SEAFORD, Del. – A fire and explosion in Seaford causing an estimated $300,000 in damages to a home. The flames broke out on highland drive, and crews were called in after neighbors reported hearing an explosion.

At least three fire departments responded to the blaze. There are no reported injuries, and the property owners were not home at the time of the incident.

Neighbors describe the scary scene. “I live four houses down and I saw a big cloud of smoke and I wanted to walk over to see if it was his house, and unfortunately, it was,” said Rose Carannante. “I called him and told him to make sure and he was not home.”

It is unknown at this time what caused the explosion. The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
