Somerset Co. Public Schools cuts ribbon to new inclusive playground facility

PRINCESS ANNE, Md.- Inclusivity was at the heart of a ribbon cutting Wednesday afternoon at Princess Anne Elementary school. A new inclusive playground facility is officially open to students.

The space will address concerns of accessibility, allowing all students the opportunity to play with their classmates regardless of their abilities.

The playground has a new merry-go-round, swings, visual and auditory simulation equipment and more. “We believe that all students should be learning, growing, and playing together. This is an example of us investing in that vision and thinking about all aspects of a child’s education and putting forth the resources to make that vision a reality,” Supervisor of Special Education Dr. Brandy Brady said.

Somerset County Public Schools tells us now all their elementary school playgrounds are inclusive. That effort was made possible by a partnership between Somerset County Schools and the Board of Education.
