Salisbury woman arrested on numerous charges following hit and run crash in Millsboro
MILLSBORO, Del. – A Salisbury woman was arrested following a hit and run crash in the Millsboro area Monday afternoon.
Shortly after 2 p.m., troopers responded to the area of Millsboro Highway and Laurel Road for a reported hit and run. Troopers arrived at the scene and learned that the fleeing vehicle had become disabled in the area of Careys Camp Road. A Millsboro Police Officer and troopers found the driver, identified as 26-year-old Wanda Rodriguez Gonzales, down the road from the original crash scene.
She was taken into custody and was held in the back of the patrol vehicle when she reportedly began hitting the windows in the back of the patrol vehicle. As troopers were handcuffing Rodriguez Gonzalez, she resisted and bit a trooper’s arm. As she was being taken to Troop 4, she allegedly kept banging her head against the windows, causing damage to the patrol vehicle and injuring her forehead. An ambulance was called in to treat her injuries, at which time she reportedly spit on a paramedic and bit a second trooper.
Rodriguez Gonzales was charged with resisting arrest with force, offensive touching of a paramedic, two counts of offensive touching of a law enforcement officer, criminal mischief, DUI, and multiple traffic offenses. She was later released on her own recognizance.
