Cause of Salisbury house fire determined
SALISBURY, Md. – Maryland State Fire Marshals have determined the cause of a fire that heavily damaged a Salisbury home last weekend.
The fire broke out just before 10 a.m. October 8th, at 1001 Russell Avenue. Firefighters battled the blaze for just under an hour before it was brought under control. Two firefighters suffered minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Further investigation revealed that the fire was caused by a power cord to a lamp in the living room.
The home, owned by James and Jennifer Berkman, sustained an estimated $250,000 in damage. A dog and two cats unfortunately did not survive.
