Easton Police arrest woman on theft charges
EASTON, Md. – Easton Police have arrested a woman on theft charges.
The investigation began in June 2022, when officers met with a victim over the age of 68, who informed officers that they believed they were scammed out of money via CashApp. The victim reported that a woman, identified as 34-year-old Brittany Bowers, helped them open a CashApp account and showed them how to use it. When the victim was having issues using the app, Bowers helped them. During the confusion with the app and getting it to work, a large amount of money was allegedly sent via CashApp to Bowers and was never returned.
Bowers was taken into custody on Friday on an arrest warrant, charging her with obtaining property from a vulnerable adult $25,000 to $100,000, theft $25,000 to $100,000, nine counts of theft $1,500 to $25,000, and two counts of theft $100 to under $1,500.
