Teen driver arrested in Salisbury fatal crash overnight
SALISBURY, Md. – Salisbury Police says the driver of the vehicle in the fatal crash overnight has been arrested. Around 12:30AM, a vehicle collided with a utility pole in the area of South Salisbury Boulevard and Lloyd Street. Police confirm one person died in the crash, and another is in critical condition. Police say the driver may have suffered minor injuries. While they couldn’t say how many people were in the vehicle, they do say all of those involved were juveniles.
The driver in the crash is facing a slew of charges including driving under the influence of alcohol and negligent manslaughter-automobile.
Police say the cause of the crash is still under investigation. Maryland State Police performed a crash reconstruction as part of the investigation Saturday morning. Officials say the collision also took out power for a few blocks in the surrounding area, which has since been restored.
The Delmar School District confirmed the loss of one of their students Saturday. The Interim Superintendent released a statement here.
