Wanted Dover man taken into custody following struggle

DOVER, Del. – A wanted Dover man was taken into custody following an incident Monday afternoon.

Just before 2:30 p.m., Dover Police officers responded to the area of North Bradford Street and West Division Street to help Probation and Parole with arresting a wanted man, identified as 35-year-old Sean Brownawell. Police say Brownawell was wanted for violating his probation and had a warrant for his arrest from Delaware State Police.

When contacted by Probation and Parole officers, Brownawell allegedly ran away, but was eventually taken into custody with the help of Dover PD officers. During the incident, Brownawell suffered injuries and was taken to Bayhealth Kent Campus for treatment. After being released, he was arrested and charged with resisting arrest with force and three counts of offensive touching.

He was released on his own recognizance on the new charges but was held at SCI for his violation of probation.
