Celebrating the history of decoy carvers on Delmarva
POCOMOKE CITY, Md. – Over a hundred people paid a visit to the Delmarva Discovery Muesuem this weekend in Pocomoke to celebrate an important piece of history on the shore.
The annual Delmarva Heritage Days hosted by the museum uncovers the history of decoy carvers on the shore. Several renowned craftsmen from across Delmarva shared their creations with the community as part of the event.
According to the Heritage Days Committee Chair Susan Buckle Pusey, the event was also a chance for collectors to show off different oyster cans that connect with this art form.
“Part of our mission is to bring forth, make it alive about the heritage and the culture of our area and we’re here to teach that,” said Pusey.
The Heritage Day Committee Chair said the event also helps to create more foot traffic for local businesses in Pocomoke City.
