Updated COVID-19 vaccines expected to be available in Delaware next week

Covid Vax Boosters, 3rd Doses

DOVER, Del. – Updated COVID-19 vaccines will soon be available in Delaware.

This week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a recommendation that everyone six months and older get an updated COVID-19 vaccine to protect against the virus this fall and winter.

The updated vaccines are expected to become available at pharmacies, healthcare providers, state public health clinics, federally qualified health centers, and other facilities next week. Vaccines will be free for everyone through one of three methods. Those covered under most private or government insurance plans can receive the vaccine at pharmacies or providers with the cost fully covered by insurance. For those uninsured or underinsured, vaccines will be available at federally qualified health centers, public health clinics, local pharmacies, and certain providers through the State of Delaware’s Immunization Program, as well as at Walgreens, CVS, and pharmacies affiliated with the ETrueNorth pharmacy network. Children who currently participate in the CDC’s Vaccines for Children Program will also be able to receive free updated COVID-19 vaccines where they receive their routine vaccines.

A full list of vaccine locations will be posted online as they become available.
