Gelof named AL rookie of the month

SALISBURY, Md. – Cape Henlopen baseball alum Zack Gelof has been named American League rookie of the month for August.

Gelof swatted 7 home runs and stole 4 bases over the course of the month while batting .286.

Since his call-up to the major leagues Gelof has been one of the most valuable players on the team, already ranking third in WAR – Wins Above Replacement – on Oakland’s roster.

Gelof made Athletics team history as the fastest man to 10 home runs.
