Magnolia man arrested on felony assault charges

MAGNOLIA, Del. – Delaware State Police arrested a Magnolia man Monday night after he physically assaulted a victim.

Troopers were called to the unit block of E. Walnut Street at around 10:15 p.m. for a report of a fight. On arrival, troopers met with the 49-year-old male victim who reported that he was at a friends residence when a subject he didn’t know entered the house and began to argue with him. The subject then reportedly followed the victim outside and initiated a physical altercation, biting the victim on the hand before fleeing on a bike prior to police arrival.

The victim was taken to Bayhealth Kent General with a serious hand injury due to the bite.

The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Lionel Thompson, was located on his bike nearby and taken into custody, where he was charged with assault second degree (felony).

Thompson was released on $4,000 unsecured bond.
