Dorchester County names new Asst. Superintendent, familiar face returns

DORCHESTER CO., Md. – Dorchester County Public Schools has named a new Assistant Superintendent. Dr. Jamil Thompson is returning to the district; he is a former Dorchester County Administrator.

Dr. Thompson most recently spent time as the Director of Programs for the John and Janice Wyatt Foundation in Easton and as Founding Principal of Polaris Village Academy, a tuition-free private school due to open in 2024. The Pennsylvania native came to Dorchester County in 2017, serving as an Assistant Principal and then Principal of Mace’s Lane Middle School until 2020. Officials say he has almost 20 years of experience in education and began as a Special Education teacher.

“The Board of Education is very pleased to welcome Dr. Thompson to the new position of Assistant Superintendent. He’ll be working closely with the schools to bring about a more uniform vision,” says Dorchester County Board of Education President Dr. Susan Morgan.
