Easton Police warn residents of scam circulating

EASTON, Md. – Easton Police are warning residents about a scam circulating in the area. They say someone recently reported a phone call they received demanding payment for fines over an incident that allegedly linked the victim to an out of state crime. The suspect was able to “spoof” the Easton Police phone number which helped convince the victim, resulting in the loss of a substantial sum of money.

Easton Police are reminding residents that they do not call citizens to advise them to pay fines over the phone, the internet or through third parties like Money Orders or Bit Coin. If you receive a suspicious phone call, you should report it to Police at 410-822-1111.
