Mosquito pool tests positive for West Nile Virus in Worcester Co.

WORCESTER CO., Md. – A mosquito pool in Worcester County has tested positive for West Nile Virus.

We’re told the mosquito pool was in the Whaleyville area. This is the first positive test for West Nile Virus in 2023 in Worcester County.

Health officials are reminding residents to take precautionary steps to prevent contact with mosquitos and reduce risk of of infection with WNV or other mosquito-borne illnesses. This includes removing standing water around your home, wear clothing that covers the arms, legs, and feet when you are outdoors, and use an EPA-approved mosquito repellent.
