Dover man charged with burglarizing liquor store
DOVER, Del. – A Dover man was arrested following a burglary at a liquor store early Saturday morning.
Just after 3:30 a.m., officers responded to Driftwood Spirits for an alarm, finding that the front door to the business was open. Investigation revealed that a suspect entered the business through the drywall/ductwork, stole merchandise, and left.
Downtown surveillance footage showed the suspect, whom police were able to locate in the area of South New Street and Reed Street. The suspect was identified as 56-year-old James Smith, who was charged with third degree burglary, theft under $1500, and criminal mischief.
Smith was later released on a $2,000 unsecured bail.
