affordable lumber rates after pandemic price spike
During the pandemic, consumers saw a significant spike in the price of lumber.
Now, as we settle back into a pre-COVID life, the price of the building material is starting to come down. Owner of Dukes Lumber, Dale Dukes, said a certain type of imported lumber called Euro Spruce is one of the reasons more people are able to build their forever homes for a reasonable cost.
“If we didn’t have the Euro Spruce coming in, the market would probably be $800 to $900, if we had to buy local from the United States,” Dukes said. “If it wasn’t for the Euro, it would be a lot higher and that has effected the housing market.”
Dukes added the quality of Euro Spruce is also a driving factor of the wood’s popularity in the housing industry.
