Dorchester Co. commercial building fire under investigation

LINKWOOD, Md. – Officials are continuing to investigate a commercial building fire that broke out Sunday evening.

Just before 7:30 p.m., firefighters responded to 5420 Linkwood Road for a reported structure fire at Valley Proteins LLC. The two-alarm blaze took firefighters roughly 90 minutes to control.

Fire marshals have determined that the fire began in the electrical service area of the product processing room, however, the cause remains under investigation. Total damage has been estimated at $3.5 million.
