Council members to vote on skate park addition in Berlin

BERLIN, Md.- The wait for a new skate park may be over in Berlin.

The town of Berlin is looking for community input on a possible new addition to Heron Park.

Officials in Berlin have been going back and forth on the motion for decades, but Executive Director of ‘We Heart Berlin,’ Tony Weeg, said the potential new break in the initiative could mean something big for the town.

“What a park would mean to Berlin is a couple things,” Weeg said. “It will mean that kids will have somewhere else to skate besides main street; it will mean that grandparents and their grandchildren can skate together.”

“Skateboarding will no longer be a crime in town, rather it will be welcomed in a beautifully designed and designated spot,” Weeg added.

Council members hope to have shovels in the ground at Heron Park by 2024.
