St. Michaels house fire deemed accidental
ST. MICHAELS, Md. – Officials have determined that a St. Michaels house fire was accidental in nature.
The fire broke out shortly after 10 a.m. Thursday, at a home in the 400 block of Water Street. Nearly 40 firefighters responded to the fire, which was controlled in roughly 40 minutes.
State fire marshals determined that the fire began in the attic area and was caused by an electrical failure in the area of the eave fan. The homeowner was not in the residence at the time of the fire.
Total damage has been estimated at $150,000.
