Police investigating drowning of Owings Mills man at Worcester Co. campground

BERLIN, Md. – Police are investigating a drowning that happened Wednesday afternoon in Berlin.

Just before 5:30 p.m., deputies responded to the tiki bar area of Castaways Campground for a reported drowning. 65-year-old Ronald Lingenfelder of Owings Mills was found floating face down and unresponsive in Sinepuxent Bay. Several bystanders were able to bring Lingenfelder to the shore and began lifesaving measures until EMS arrived.

Lingenfelder was taken by ambulance to Atlantic General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The incident remains under investigation.
