DSP: Millville woman struck by car in Selbyville succumbs to injuries

Delaware State Police announced Friday that a Millville woman who was struck by a vehicle last Saturday in Selbyville has passed away.

Geralynn Ober, 49, succumbed on Thursday to injuries she sustained when she was hit by a car on the evening of January 14th, officials said.

Police say at around 7:07 that evening, Ober was standing in the roadway near the intersection of Hudson Road and Bixler Road in Selbyville. Ober was reportedly speaking to someone in a vehicle stopped in the northbound lane.

As she stepped away from that vehicle, police say was stuck by a Lexus driving in southbound lane.

In the dark, rainy conditions and unlit roadway, investigators say Ober was difficult for the driver to see. She was reportedly not wearing any reflective clothing or carrying a flashlight.

The driver of the Lexus, a 78-year-old Ocean Pines man, stopped after striking Ober. The driver was uninjured in the accident, police said.

Police say the Collision Reconstruction Unit continues their investigation on the incident.
