A new Salisbury city council candidate is running for office

a person standing on a sidewalk There is a new candidate running for District 2 seat of the Salisbury City Council and his name is D’Shawn Doughty.

Doughty was born and raised here on the Eastern Shore saying that “I’ve been here all my life.”

Currently, he is the development manager for Green Street Housing.

He went to high school on the eastern shore and attended Salisbury University.
Doughty was also the first African-American President of the Salisbury Junior Chamber of Commerce.

He says his main reason for running is to make positive change for his hometown and a better place for anyone and everyone to live.

“Being here my whole life, I know Salisbury inside and out,” Doughty said. “The people, places and business owners, I just feel so connected to them because I’ve been her all my life.”

“I feel it is important to be connected to the place we call home.”

47ABC reached out to the current incumbent, Muir Boda, and he says he is not making any official announcements to run until August.
