Police investigating crash that claimed life of one in Denton
DENTON, Md. – Police are investigating a crash that claimed the life of a Delaware man and injured a child Friday afternoon.
Shortly after 2 p.m., troopers responded to Route 317 at Baker Road in Denton for a reported crash involving a pickup truck and tractor-trailer. Investigators believed that a pickup truck that was traveling westbound on Route 317 drifted into the eastbound lanes and was subsequently hit by an oncoming tractor-trailer.
The driver of the pickup, identified as 29-year-old Vincent Benson, was pronounced dead at the scene. An 8-year-old girl was a passenger in the pickup and was taken to Johns Hopkins via Maryland State Police Aviation for treatment.
The drier of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
