Good Morning Delmarva Discusses Juneteenth Celebration at Sturgis Museum

47ABC – Juneteenth is a holiday the African American community holds close to their hearts and it’s fast approaching. The Sturgis One Room School Museum is hosting a Juneteenth event this coming Saturday, June 17th, from 11A.M. to 6 P.M. in celebration.

The Sturgis One Room School Museum is the only African American One Room School in Worcester County. The organization strives to preserve and educate others on African American cultural history and the heritage of the school. The school is over 100 years old, was purchased by Sturgis in 1888, and retains its original integrity.

That’s why it’s the perfect location for the event and the organization will be giving tours as a part of the festivities.

Kim Jones, President of the Board of Directors, shared what you can expect to see at the event on Good Morning Delmarva.
