Road closures, parking restrictions for Tuesday’s Inauguration in Dover

The Delaware Department of Transportation, Dover Police, Delaware State Police and Delaware Capitol Police are reminding Delawareans of road closures in Dover for the inauguration ceremony of Gov.-elect Carney and Lt. Gov.-elect Hall-Long on Tuesday.

Starting Monday evening, Dover Police say they will enforce parking restrictions on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, Legislative Avenue and Walter Street from Federal Street to Legislative Avenue.

Beginning 6 AM on Tuesday, several roads will be closed to traffic completely.

Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, both eastbound and westbound, will be closed beginning at Capitol Drive and extending to Federal Street.

Legislative Avenue will be closed between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard North and South.

Officials say Federal Street will stay open for traffic both ways from Water Street to Loockerman Street.

People planning on attending the inauguration are encouraged to use a park and ride shuttle service from the Blue Hen Corporate Center. The shuttle will run from 10AM to 2 PM, officials said.

Road closures and parking restrictions should be lifted after 2 PM Tuesday when the ceremonies are completed.
