Local group hosts community ‘Think Tank’

In celebration of Dr. Martin King Jr., community members in Delaware met today to encourage dialogue on ways to improve the future for local students, called a 'Think Tank'.

This event was led by the Impact Leadership Program. The organization aims to help youth in Sussex and Kent County.

During the event,  professionals, educators, and parents  met to discuss issues that affect their community and brainstorm possible solutions.

Among the topics brought up were, drug abuse, mental health, and family engagement.

"What happens most of the time is that people can easily identify the problem but they have a hard time finding the solution . We do these think tanks so we can come together and communicate about different solutions from different perspectives . So we can then take it back to the work place and be able to apply them," says Dr. Brittany Hazzard.

Dr. Hazzard  tells us those solutions will be noted  and recommendations will be made to local school districts so they can help solve these issues.
