Jury deliberations underway in Cpl. Hilliard murder trial

SALISBURY, Md. – The jury is now deliberating in the trial of Austin Davidson, the man accused of fatally shooting Wicomico County Sheriff’s Corporal Glenn Hilliard.

Both prosecution and defense attorneys delivered their closing statements Monday morning. Prosecutors argue that it was clear Davidson intended to kill Corporal Glenn Hilliard that night, bringing up the laser site he used on the weapon and pointing to testimony on past messages Davidson sent, stating he would kill any cop that tries to put him back in jail.

The defense argues that while Davidson didn’t deny shooting him, they can’t prove he intended to kill him. They questioned the credibility of some of the witness testimony given during the trial and urged the jury to deliberate without sympathy.

There is no word on how long deliberations could take. We will have the latest tonight on the News Hour.
