The National Kidney Foundation walk in Salisbury on May 21st

SALISBURY, Md.- The National Kidney Foundation walk will take place later this month in Salisbury to raise awareness and funding all in an effort to save lives.
The walk will be on Sunday, May 21st at Winter Place Park with registration beginning at 9 a.m.
Timah Ricketts-West has been a registered nurse for over 30 years and has seen the affects of Kidney Disease on her patients and a family member.
She says that her father was a kidney patient and he was on dialysis as a result of uncontrolled diabetes and hypertension. Ricketts-West says she has a personal attachment to raising awareness of impacts of kidney disease.
“Kidney disease is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States, killing more people every year, more than breast and prostate cancer,” Ricketts-West said. “So this awareness is really important.”
Ricketts-West says they’re excited to take part in the walk and that the best way to prevent kidney disease is for everybody to get a screening. 47 ABC’s Anchor Rob Petree will actually be the official host of the walk. If you’d like to take part you can register online at kidneywalk.org
