Pair arrested on firearms charges in Laurel
LAUREL, Del. – Two men are behind bars following an investigation in Laurel Tuesday evening.
At around 7:20 p.m., officers were patrolling the area of Little Creek Apartments when they tried to make contact with a wanted subject. Two subjects in the same group fled on foot, and additional officers responding to the area saw the two subjects flee into the stairwell of Building 300. The subjects were reportedly seen removing concealed firearms from under their clothing and trying to hide them before being contacted by officers. Officers located the hidden firearms, including a loaded Ruger 365XL handgun and a loaded 22 Charger.
19-year-old Timothy O’Hara was charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, and resisting arrest. He was also found to be a person prohibited from possessing a firearm due to a 2022 concealed carry deadly weapon charge and was on probation as a result. O’Hara was also on release on an unsecured bond for an unrelated violent felony case. He was held at SCI on a $21,000 cash only bailed and an administrative warrant for violation of probation.
18-year-old Markel Fortt was charged with concealed carry deadly weapon. He was also currently on release on an unsecured bond for an unrelated violent felony case. He was held at SCI on a $5,000 secured bail.
