Man arrested for robbery at Pittsville Dollar General

PITTSVILLE, Md. – A Pittsville man is behind bars after police say he robbed a store Wednesday night.

According to police, the suspect, identified as 53-year-old Brian McNaney, went into the Dollar General located in the 7200 block of Sixty Food Road and walked around the store briefly before brandishing a firearm at the cashier. McNaney is believed to have stolen money from the register before fleeing the scene.

Troopers responded at around 9:45 p.m. and located a man matching the description of the suspect walking on Gumboro Road, just north of the store. He was subsequently taken into custody and charged with armed robbery, reckless endangerment, and related charges.

McNaney is currently awaiting a bond review hearing.
