Local cub scouts create care packages for troops overseas

Despite Sunday's cold weather, one local group of children still met up in the hopes of carrying out a mission.
The Cub Scouts from the 827 Pack created care packages for troops overseas during their "Operation We Care" event.
Kids packed fifty packages filled with treats and essentials. They also decorated the inside of the boxes with messages for the troops.
"If you're overseas and you have kids of your own back home, obviously you miss them. When you see a note from another child that might be about the same age, it definitely hits you close to the heart," says Jeff Merritt, the President Operation We Care. "It's a moral boost. It lets the troops know we haven't forgotten them."
