State of Emergency in Salisbury results in clearing roadways for emergency situations

Despite the downpour of snow, many continued to drive along the icy roads.
Worsened conditions early Saturday led to the city of Salisbury declaring a State of Emergency meaning vehicles need to be removed from our seven emergency snow routes.
Salisbury Mayor Jake Day explains those emergency snow routes are their main priority.
Seven additional plows were also on the roads clearing pathways, along with snow removal vehicles on sidewalks and side streets.
Mayor Day says, "We want to ensure that those vehicles have a clear path to delivering emergency medical and police response services at the same rapid pace that citizens can expect on a non-snowy day."
And Mayor Day says the best route for safety is staying at home warm and safe, avoiding the roads at all costs.
And as 47 ABC drove around-, we saw a number of cars out on the road. The Maryland State Highway Administration is reminding drivers to drive slowly.
