Worcester Tech gets welding shop makeover by winning national competition
NEWARK, Md. – A classroom at Worcester Technical High School got a much needed face lift and on Tuesday, we got our first look. In just four days, their welding shop is now fully renovated.
The magic was completed with the help of a tool company called Channellock, which held a national competition.
Worcester Tech beat out competitors across the nation and in turn got a nice $5,000 gift and 100 new tools.
Their principal Tom Zimmer says, “I think they’ll be more willing to try things in that room because I’ve got this brand new tool, that brand new tool. Like anything else, you get something brand new you have an air of confidence, I think there’s something to be said about appearance and how things look in regards to students and their confidence.”
Zimmer says the tools were needed and extremely expensive adding that the makeover is likely enough to turn the program around.
