UPDATE: Fatal crash under investigation in Felton, victim identified

3/17 UPDATE: Police have identified the victim in this crash as 75-year-old Michael Ibach of Frederica, Delaware.

FELTON, Del. – Police are investigating a fatal single vehicle crash that happened in the Felton area Thursday afternoon.

At around 2:45 p.m., police say a 2013 Mazda 5 was traveling eastbound on Carpenters Bridge Road, east of Roesville Road, approaching a moderate right curve. For unknown reasons, the Mazda reportedly crossed the westbound lane and traveled off the north edge of the roadway before hitting a tree.

The 75-year-old Frederica man was taken by ambulance to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. Identification is pending notification of next of kin.

Carpenters Bridge Road was closed for roughly 2.5 hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
