Fatal pedestrian crash under investigation in Bridgeville
BRIDGEVILLE, Del. – Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian that happened in Bridgeville Wednesday evening.
Shortly after 6:30 p.m., police say a Chrysler 300 was traveling northbound in the left lane on Route 13, approaching the intersection of Rifle Range Road. A Chevrolet Cruze was traveling northbound on Route 13 in the right lane, adjacent to the Chrysler 300. For unknown reasons, an adult male pedestrian was crossing westbound from the east side of the roadway when he walked in front of the Chrysler and was hit. The Chrysler swerved to the right and hit the left side of the Chevrolet.
The Chrysler was being driven by a 63-year-old man, while the Chevrolet was being driven by a 20-year-old woman. Neither were injured.
The pedestrian was taken to an area hospital where he unfortunately died as a result of his injuries. Identification is pending notification of next of kin.
