Exhibit offers high school students chance to show off talents
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The best and brightest of high school artists are getting exposure on a bigger level thanks to a new art exhibit at University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
Only the best out over 70 entries were chosen and then six winners were named on top of that.
All the work at the exhibit can be bought so those high schoolers can earn some extra cash.
We’re also told the exhibit gives high schoolers a chance to learn more about UMES’s art program.
“A lot of students who grow up here may be familiar with the campus, may drive by it a lot, but not realize what facilities we have here,” said Susan Holt, the gallery director.
The winners were announced during the opening of the exhibit.
First prize winners: Krystal Colon & Wicomico county VPA program; second prize: Diandra Milbourne & Parkside HS; 3rd prize: Kylie Mohler & Pocomoke HS; participation prize: Steven Decatur HS.
The exhibit will be open at the Mosely Gallery until February 7.
