Dover man arrested for burglarizing Food Lion

DOVER, Del. – Dover Police arrested a suspect early Wednesday morning on burglary charges.

Just after 2 a.m., officers responded to the Food Lion located at 1030 Forrest Avenue Suite 106 for a reported burglary. It was reported that a man was inside of the business, causing damage and stealing property from the store. The suspect was gone by the time police arrived on scene, however, they discovered that the suspect shattered a glass door and stole an unknown amount of tobacco products from the store.

Officers were able to review store surveillance and obtain a suspect description, later identifying the suspect as 54-year-old Terrence Jones. At around 3:40 a.m., Jones was taken into custody on South New Street. He was found to be in possession of tobacco products at the time of his arrest.

Jones was charged with third degree burglary, possession of burglar tools, theft, and criminal mischief. He was released on a $3,000 unsecured bail on these charges but was held at SCI on an outstanding capias.
