Parents speak out against Pocomoke Middle School teacher for alleged inappropriate behavior
POCOMOKE CITY, Md. – In December, Shereesce Hoolfield was shocked after learning her son’s sixth grade teacher had allegedly inappropriately touched her child at Pocomoke Middle School.
But, after weeks of reaching out to Worcester County Public Schools she said her child is still dealing with this issue.
“Two days after this situation with Jaymeer, I got no response,” said Hoolfield.
“I called Dr. Record, I left a message, no response, no message, nobody called me back or anything to talk about the situation,” said Hoolfield.
According to Hoolfield, Dr. Brian Cook has grabbed her 12-year-old child by the neck, has dragged him around the classroom and even ignored his plea to stop hurting him.
“He said, ‘Mom, he grabbed me by the back of my neck, he squeezed it. He was gripping it, and then I was like, stop, stop,'” said Hoolfield.
And, after filing reports with the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Hoolfield found out from a second mother that another child was also allegedly abused by Dr. Cook.
Anna Mills said she has reached out to Worcester County Public Schools Superintendent Louis H. Taylor, but nothing has been done to help.
“He dragged my son by the back of his neck, pushed him out the classroom, and he also dragged him out of the classroom by his arm and then he pushed him into the desk,” said Anna Mills.
“So, I just don’t understand what more has to happen for something to get done about this teacher,” said Mills.
47ABC reached out to Worcester County Public Schools and they tell us that the administration has been in contact with these families, and their statement reads in part: We want to assure our families and community that any matter of concern related to the safety and security of our students is thoroughly investigated and appropriate measures are taken.
