Trio arrested on drug charges following investigation in Bridgeville

BRIDGEVILLE, Del. – Delaware State Police arrested three people on felony gun and narcotics charges following a several-month-long drug investigation in Bridgeville.

Thursday morning, members of the Sussex County Drug Unit, Sussex County Governor’s Task Force, and Special Operations Team executed a search warrant at a residence in the 10000 block of Rifle Range Road. When troopers walked into the home, they saw Christopher Viruet running away from a bedroom. He was taken into custody in a second bedroom. Troopers also arrested Patricia Griffis and Jesus Torres inside of the home.

A search led to the recovery of approximately 4.095 grams of suspected heroin, approximately 57.11 grams of cocaine, approximately 10.41 grams of crack cocaine, a loaded handgun that had been altered to fire on fully automatic and reported stolen in September 2021 in Federalsburg, numerous rounds of ammunition, and more than $2,700 in suspected drug money.

The residence was occupied by a 13-year-old and 10-year-old at the time, and the two were safely turned over to a relative.

Viruet was held at SCI on a $177,000 cash bond on numerous firearm and drug charges, as well as two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Griffis was held at SCI on a $49,500 cash bond on several drug charges. Torres was held at SCI on a $43,500 cash bond on multiple drug charges.
